I always felt that the Pation and Potion had a slightly different look to them. In the end, they look very similar and do similar things. Much like the Butter and Lesser.

Other than the price, I'm a believer that they are the same...exactly. The supers look the same, the potion/passions look the same, other combos that I've seen look the same.

Really? Maybe im thinking of different combos then. The potions and passions looked very different i thought...
Anyone wanna post some pics of their mystics or phantom? Or supers or combos? Id like to see how close they look!

Some shots of my pastel mystic. First my crappy photo (does show true colors though), and then the one Dan Wolfe took of her. I need to get some updated shots now that she's bigger, but it seems like she's always eating and I don't want to be handling her too much after.





IMO, they're the same. The differences between, say, potion and passion could be just a difference in what the components looked like. Like, there are all sorts of ways a black pastel pewter can look, based on what the parents looked like, but they all come from black pastel x pastel. Differences in the individual, not a different morph.

I think they are DEFINITELY the same. Here's why...

Look at the differences between pastels. Let's take Lemon Pastels as an example. How many different "grades" or "shades" of lemon pastels are there? How many combos are there with lemon pastels that look different than each other?

How about the difference between a bumblebee and a bumblebee? There can be a wide array of differences on them, but they're both spider pastels. They may have different characteristics--like spots, no spots, high white, low white, high yellow, low yellow, high gold, low gold, thin stripes, almost no stripes, completely different head patterns, etc.... BUT, they are ALL pastel spiders!

The same thing is with mystics and phantoms. If I have 2 different mojaves, say a super reduced/blushed, vs. a really contrasted busy pattern, and I pair a mystic with both of them, do you think the potions would look the same? I don't. But it doesn't change the fact that they are both mystic potions. There are way more things that play into the look of the snake than a single mystic or phantom gene.

Anyway, the point is that mystics and potions are so similarly close, that I can't see how anyone can justify calling them different morphs. I'd like to see a phantom paired with a mojave one year, and a mystic paired with the same mojave the next year. Then I'd like to see the comparison of those babies. I'd bet the similarities would be even closer than what potion/passion pictures are available online to view.

That's exactly what I've always thought reaching phantom/mystic debates. Maybe someone will do an experiment with a male mojave and a female of each. Better yet two male mojaves and need one to both females the first year and the other to both the next year.

So since I know everyone is curious and I would totally do this but don't have the money for all those snakes how 'bout this: How about everyone gets together and sends me these 4 snakes and I'll perform the experiment and let you all know how it went. I think its genius, let's do it!

I believe that the Mystics and the Phantoms are the same. As the Cinnamon and Black Pastel are almost identical but they make different combinations because they are separate mutations along the same allele . Where as the Super Black Pastel, and the Supper Cinny looks very different, The Mystic Potion and Purple Passion are identical. The super forms of mystics and phantoms are also identical.
