Do not start using that unless the fluid in the egg starts to smell off or discolors. Keep your finners out of the eggs as much as possible.

I've always wondered the same thing. I know you can buy straight saline, but its kind of hard to come by around our parts, but you can find the saline that was made for contacts that have a few extra ingredients anywhere, like the stuff the OP posted. There have been a handful of times I've had to top off and/or clean a few eggs and I always just played it safe and used distilled water. Now I know. This makes me feel better because I always have a bottle or two of that laying around.

Sometimes when we cut eggs open or they pip on their own or whatever other reason you can imagine where the babies are still inside the eggs and haven't emerged on their own where they are exposed to the outside world for longer than normal period of time. Being that a sealed egg protects them from bacteria and keeps fluids locked in, an open egg can collect bacteria and/or dry out. We use stuff like saline or distilled water to flush out bacteria and replenish the fluids lost due to drying out. Hope that made sense.
