Broken Thermometer
So when I got back from class today I looked into my bps tank and saw he had knocked the thermometer into the water bowl. I went to walmart, homedepot, loews, and target and none of them have a thermometer with a probe anymore. It's all wireless, and the sensor is this huge thing. I even tried the LPS and they only had the gauges, I went to petco all they had was this dinky little thermometer that only gave you one reading. I'm so frustrated it's unbelievable. I even went out on a limb and tried sports authority and they don't carry thermometers. 2 and half hours of running around and sitting in traffic for absolutely nothing! I dried the thermometer and it still doesn't work, even tried a fresh battery and nothing. Any suggestions?

You can buy one online, I would check Walmart again. I have never seen one that doesn't carry these (sometimes they are in very weird places though)

I looked up and down the aisles, and asked 2 different people that worked there and they said that's all they carried. The one you have is the same one that went into the water dish, I bought it at the same walmart I went to today when I got my bp last January.I think they updated there thremometers.

They have been discontinued for some time they will become impossible to get soon. I have never liked them myself. I believe in a decent accuracy sadly there is really two ways to get it. Spend lots of money, or buy a handful of cheap ones. I use very inexpensive probe types, they are poor accuracy so you need to buy a few (at least 3 and more, 5) Lay all out together and keep the ones that read the same. I use an accurate analogue hygrometer, they need to have a METAL face card and most have a calibration screw as well. The digital hygrometers usually do not have good accuracy anyway. Calibratable analogue types often come very good out of the box. If they test out to be incorrect they can be adjusted. As a bonus they stand up to dust dirt and being dunked in water.
