    Pastel or Super Pastel

We picked up this girl today from someone who was selling his collection because he was moving. He said she was a Pastel but she was the offspring of two Super Pastels. I was under the impression two Supers only made Supers. Only way would be if one parent was a Pastel. We only paid $70 for her which I feel is a pretty good deal for a pastel and a great deal for a Super. Anyway we were just curious what others thought since to us she looks like a Pastel.

This is a bad picture, it hardly does her justice. I will try to get a better picture tonight.

I say Pastel. But you are right that is not a good picture. Also, one of the dead giveaways for a Super is the head, which we cannot see here. Also that snake, bad pic or no, seems VERY browned out for a Super, actually pretty brown for even a Pastel of that size.

    How much does she weigh?

The breeder said a super pastel x super pastel pairing produced a regular pastel? I didn't even think that was possible. A super pastel to a normal yields all pastel, figured super x super would be all supers.. Somebody correct me please if this information is wrong so I can fix it with my brain. If he had this information wrong I'd be double checking on sex as well. You can't really go wrong with that pricetag though, nice pickup regardless.

You are right that Super X Super = Super. Just, that pic does not look like a Super.

She is a little over 200g and was born in July. I will try to get a picture of her head for tonight.

Am I wrong thinking that two Supers would only make Supers? I was under the impression that Pastel was a CoDominant gene.

Doesn't look like a super pastel to me.

    Three options:

    1. Really low quality super pastel

    2. One of the parents was misidentified as a super pastel

    3. The guy lied to you.

Yeah, doesn't look like any super I've seen either but it wasn't sold as a super pastel.. I'm just scratching my head over the breeder saying it's the offspring a super pastel x super pastel pairing. She seems super small for being almost a year too, did the breeder mention any feeding problems?

A little over 200g and a July '11 baby? What the heck has she been eating, pinky mice?

It looks pastel to me, and a browned out one at that, especially for the age.

    Not a super.

Because of this, parents were not both supers.
