I spoke with a breeder (Robert Seib) who told me he feeds his hatchlings every 7 days until they are several months old, because feeding too often can cause the liver to become inflamed.
Thats a Rumor and a bad one at that.
The liver will not have a problem digesting food every 3 days. I been feeding hatchlings every 3 days for 5+ years now and i still got some of them hatchlings here who now eat every 5 days.
I like every 7 days you can be on a schedule where if you go every 5 days your constantly doing your feedings on different days which can be a stress to you and easily forgettable in the rush of everyday life. I like doing it every Wed. snakes are happy I'm happy rodents are a lil angry but hey what can you do
NEVER RELEASE FISH OR REPTILES OR ANY ANIMAL INTO THE WILD.
Please read the CARESHEET! to make sure you're doing the best you can for your pet.
I feed all my animals every 5 days. Doesn't matter to me how big they are. Hatchlings I always try to feed multiple meals to. I look at snakes just like any other animal. Dogs for instance, when they are puppies they tend to eat more because they are constantly growing. Well snakes are exactly the same. As babies they are only doing one thing.... growing.. so why not feed them a little better since they actually NEED it.

I don't see any negatives to feeding 5 or 7 days.
My boyfriend feeds his ball every 4-5 days. I feed my snakes once a week. I have 3 girls the same age as his ball and his is twice as large. (they're all around 6 months old)
sidenote: I highly recommend Robert Seib. He's local to me and a retired Herpetologist from UC Berkeley. An extremely credible and knowledgeable guy with gorgeous snakes.
