    1st feeding

Well I took everyones advise and i fed Ziggy my baby pastel for the first time yesterday.. I left him right in his cage... put the hopper in there...as soon as he smelled it, it was a matter of seconds till Ziggy was coiled up around it!!!!!

Quite the appetite. Just wanted to say thank you to everyones responce and telling me to leave him in his cage to feed....

Now how long should i wait to feed him again??

Between 4-7 days. I feed young BP's every 4 days and BP's over 500-600 grams every 8 days.

For young BP's the best way to judge is by weight, you want to feed your BP a rodent that weighs (or multiple rodents that together weigh) 15% of the snakes body weight.

Say you have a 100 gram BP.

    100 grams x 0.15 = 15 grams

So that 100 gram BP should eat 15 grams of rodent per feeding. This doesn't work as well with adults, with adults (and it works with young BP's too) you want to feed them a rodent that is about the same width as the widest part of the BP.

I find that if I get to 7 days between feedings my little guy gets ancy and roams his cage a lot. I am assuming means he is hungry since his conditions are bang on and he is in great health. He has packed on the beef, went from 140g to 405g in just over 3 months.
