Another tip is to follow the walls. Most snakes are going to make their way to the boundaries of the room, and then follow the walls to a safe place. The first good hiding spots in either direction of your cage are going to be your best bet.

As was suggested by RideRed, a rudimentary 'trap' isn't a bad idea. I found a lost snake once by baiting a bird nesting box with a frozen thawed rat. The snake had been missing for days, and following my own advice of wall-following, I surmised that the snake had made its way into the walls via a hole cut for the apartment's heating pipes. I placed the box near said hole, went to see a movie, and when I got back found the snake halfway in the trap.

Best of luck with finding your snakes! My fingers are crossed for you!

    Cheers,
    -Matt

R.I.P. Steve, I'll miss you more than you could have ever known. I love you.

You can also put a heat lamp in the middle of a room with a hide under it each night. If it gets a little chilly he will come to warm up.

Succsesss! I found them out of pure luck! my little sister said she heard some rustling behind a file cabinet in her room. while she was playing with her little ribbon garter snae.... I was skeptical at first because i already looked behind there...so i was like are you sure? and shes like I think so! and shes 10 so i dont really trust her as much... but i was like okay ... if your sure about it.. i started moving things around and pulled off the file cabinet from it's place.. Astonishing as this may seem but there they were both curled up chilling literarly inches from eachother.... Idk about you guys saying that they cant co exist.. but if anything theyve been gone for nearly a week and a half.. and theyre right by eachother when i found them.. that must say something afterall.... C: im so relieved now. )))) Soon i'm getting a water monitor and a green iguana as well.. hopefully i dont loose these as well -.- at least theye bigger and easier to find ha.. ! Thanks for all the help everybody! turns out sometimes traps and stuff won't work... a room away.. and some patience does the trick as well.. and to all of you with loose snakes.. NEVER GIVE UP!

Congrats!! So happy you found them! It would be a terrible situation to go through and I hope it never happens to me. Your story has a happy ending at least not all get off so lucky.

First and foremost, I'm glad you found your snakes!

Don't be so quick to draw conclusions about their long term behavior based on a single event. They may have been side by side because the location you found them happened to be the most ideal from a temperature stand point. That does not make them BFFs.

I still urge you to house them in separate enclosures and I hope you don't let your cat play with them anymore, even closely supervised, that is an accident waiting for a place to happen.

And finally, before you go out and get a water monitor or iguana, I hope you obtain a couple of sturdy enclosures that prevent easy escape.

Anywhere dark, small, and warm. Especially under piles of clothes. I don't house mine together and I am very very anal about them getting out. Kind of a phobia I guess so I check their tops a few times OCD style.
