Question Weird Mucous-y Stuff In Water Dish

Has anyone seen this before? Is it mucous? And if so, is it normal? I am always worrying about RI's.. No mucous in nostrils, no extra mucous when I pull down the lips, but they are too finicky and havent tried opening the mouth yet. This mucousy stuff has been floating around my water dishes from time to time, sometimes theres absolutely nothing, other times theres a bit. I didnt really start noticing it until a week or two ago when I was cleaning, but its got me a bit worried

    Heres the pictures:

I have no idea. How often do you change their water? What do you use for substrate?

Damn I didnt think of that.. I change it about every 3-5 days, but there have been times where I may have forgotten to change it for 7 days or more. Newspaper is the substrate.

I also soak and clean the water bowls and tubs every month in a bleach solution.

How often should I be changing the water? And how often do you guys fully clean your water bowls?

My bowls get cleaned and changed every 2-3 days. Usually 2, 3 if I am busy.

Its from the water, nothing abnormal. It wont harm the snakes either, just bacteria growing due to hard water, as when you rinse out the bowl and wipe it out the rag will be red.

Mine get this way as well and only way to stop it is install a water softener on the main water line in the house to filter it.

I doubt anything grew in the water in that amount of time, and that doesn't look like newspaper.

Is it in more than one snakes cage?

I just want to point out that this post isn't in response to Rich's post it didn't exist when I started typing lol.

I change water and clean bowls about every three days. I also use bottled water because I don't trust the tap stuff where I live.

You can help by boiling your water for 10 mins or so, Let it Cool and bottle it up and put in fridge.

Great idea. Thanks for the feedback guys

I actually already have a water softener in my house, so could it still be from minerals building up in the water? I do change the water completely every 7 days at the very minimum, but I will be doing it every 2 to 3 from now on.

To answer Aaron, Ive seen the same mucousy stuff in the water in at least two of my snakes, since I started noticing, but I dont remember if I've seen it in the other two snakes in that rack. Hypothetically, say they all had RI's (knock on wood), would there be any trace of it in the water bowl?
