Re: Would You Be Interested In A Herp Husbandry Android App?

I selected maybe. Depends on how much it was. That would be cool to be able to scan each herp, then input. I have only ever bought one app ever though. Keep us posted if it fomes out, I will check it out.

I know that iHerp is currently developing an ANDROID based tracking program, and i am almost certain this is already active for the iPhone users.

I'm not sure if you were going to have a different approach then just tracking but for those who don't know about it, its worth checking out.

You can click the link HERE or click the signature in my comment to link to my current ball pythons tracking sheet.

Also iPhone users just search iHerp in your app store...

Couldnt find it in the app store. But I'm not a big fan of iherp. I want something super simplified with the option to go advanced and add more information.

iHerp is the most simplified and user friendly tracking program i have seen to date. I also noticed there is a lot of advanced settings that you can use to set up breeding logs, as well as batch feeding. The site also has a dashboard that counts how long your ball pythons have been off feed. Its pretty useful, but as you said its not everyone's cup'o'tea.

Only if there was a way to make the reports printable.
That is my complaint about Iherp, when I take my animals to the vet I would like to have a printed out tracking report to give.

I could see how that could be bothersome for some people, you should try suggesting that feature on the iHerp website. The owner is actually very responsive.

    There's a "printable worksheet".

I think the tracking options on iherp are very deep and detailed. I appreciate all that and I know some people enjoy that. Personally I rather just write out what my snake ate and when... What day it shed. I would want the ability to write notes on each action. Like I said. I just want a super simplified app for what I reallly need.

That was going to be my answer too... as I have a brand new iPhone 4S (which replaced a 3G), and no plans to ever get an Android. Great idea, though!

P.S. For people like me, who often buy feeders at the store, it would be great to include a quick reference "dashboard" like on iHerp. Preferably to fit on one page, though, unlike iHerp's dashboard - where you have to hit "next page" if you have more than like 5 snakes. But it would be awesome to have that feature in an app, so I could quickly look at who's hungry, and calculate how many rodents I needed that day.

I am actually planning on making that very simple, for example using speech like I fed my herp a large rat today, and it ate; or selecting it from a list. Also, scanning the QR code on the cage to select the herp would make things go a lot faster. I personally do not use husbandry software, because they take too long to input. I want to make it as efficient as possible.
