    Hides for Big Boas

So, I know that boas don't necessarily need the security that BPs do. But I personally like hides, and my boas use them. Although my snakes are still small right now, I was wondering what people use for big boas (6-9 ft), if any. I really like the natural and/or minimalist look for hides. Are there any purchasable or buildable hides suitable for big, heavy-bodied snakes like BCI & BCC?

If you have pictures/links, that would be great.

    Thanks!

With bigger snakes you just make your own by cutting a large enough opening in storage totes for your snakes to enter/exit.

    Containers like some seen here:

Boas DO need hides! Yes, they do.... I am using ExoTerra extra large cave for my ~4ft BCC at the moment. He's almost too big for it. Ill be making a styrofoam hide and coat it in concrete/mortar soon.

Why not just buy a plastic container and cut a hole in it?
Covering styroform in concrete sounds like alot of work...

You can also use large cat litter boxes...

Every snake is different, not every boa needs/ wants a hide.

x2. Simply cut a "door" in a cat litter pan. Easy-peasy.

But if you want to make it more "natural" you can make a mixture of Elmer's glue and water (50/50) and paint it with the glue mixture than sprinkle it with Eco Earth. Coat it well and let it dry and you have an instant natural hide box. Elmer's glue is safe and non-toxic. Another option though would be tacky glue which is also safe and might hold to the plastic better...

    Re: Hides for Big Boas

I just use concrete tubs for my big boas, I just cut a good sized hole with a rotozip using a plastic bit. Then go back over it with a razor knife and a torch to smooth it out. I think that the whole boas don't need hides is bs because all of mine use them and I like to at least give them the option of using a hide.
