Caramel Albino females and fertility issues
Just started keeping BP's, so please excuse me if this topic has been beaten to death - dug up - and beaten again.
I know all about the kinks in Caramels, but what about the supposed fertility issues? Do they occur when a Caramel x Caramel pairing is done, or do the female Caramels have the fertility problems themselves?
Thanks

My understanding is that they are sub-fertile, not necessarily infertile.

guess i should comment on my post from 2 years ago. There was rumor about how the caramel females could not lay eggs, which obviously they can. That was the "fertility issue" then. I never saw anything about sub fertility until after.

Wasn't trying to call you out or start an argument...Just came across the thread in a google search and thought I would correct the mis-information...
He didn't ask if they can't lay eggs, but if they have fertility issues and most do...They produce a very low number of eggs (if any) and the rest slugs...
By 2010 it was obvious Caramels had fertility issues...I had 2 horrible clutches in 08 and 09 from a Caramel...

This thread shows a bunch of girls on slugs and very few good eggs...

OK so Het Caramels Produce viable large clutches right? And the Visual males breed fine. So its the Visual Caramel females to stay away from? So why are visual female Caramels still priced at what they are and not be off topic the Desert Females as well. How is there a large value on female animals that don't produce viable or normal clutches? I mean I don't mean to beat a dead horse but 1,000+ for a Desert female that will not produce or 450 for visual Caramel Female. It seems crazy that these are the asking prices. Ok enough of a rant. BTW I love caramels and Deserts not taking anything away from them or the people who work with them. Kinks and all I think that the caramel for being a single gene animal is spectacular looking animal.

I agree with this, as do many others. The chance of this thread even being as old as it is snowballing is pretty high though now..BUT.. To add, it is odd.. I can see Desert's males which CAN reproductive, from what i've heard.. (don't work with them) But when a female has no chances she should only be a pet, I mean paying what $1,500 for a BP to NOT be used with breeding seems insane.. But that's just me.
I'm not going to say a thing to Carmel's Honestly..I don't know enough, i do know quite a bit of the desert one though.. Not as much as others but i had a few days of nothing to do..lol
