    Cage cleaning

How often do you clean our your feeders cages? I have been doing once a week but I'm wondering if that's too long. I've got a 1:3 set up in two breeding tubs.

Back when I had live feeders I cleaned out the cages at least 2 times er week, but that was just to try to cut back on the smell.

We do our cleaning once a week for our rats. For our ASF's we spot clean their bathroom corner every week and do a full cleaning every other week. Occasionally we will have to clean our grow out tubs twice a week if we have a larger group in the tub.

I clean about every 5 days for my rat rack. But its in the house as well so I am mainly just worried about the smell.

    Post Re: Cage cleaning

I run 1.2 in my tubs, with a few having 1.3 and I clean mine once a week or so. The grow-out tubs, every 10 days or so, depending on how many are in there at a given time. I keep an eye on the volume of droppings and the smell and try to get them cleaned before the smell gets to the point that it's noticeable, lol! A little odor, whatever but if they're downright funky, then it's all hands on deck and get to scrubbing!

2 weeks is as far as i can push it before i walk in and fall over dead from ammonia smell. There are some cages that are terrible, most are just dirty, and a few that are practically clean, but I clean them all out at the same time anyways.
