Any guesses on what this pair might be het for??

So... it's kind of a crazy story. I got this pair off craigs last year. The lady I got them from wasn't a ball python finatic but she was planning on breeding them. She was selling them to get into chameleons instead. These were her only snakes and she said they were a morph of some kind.. she got them from a private breeder as hatchlings for $150 each and that she said she kind of remembers him saying something about pastel but she wasn't sure and can't remember. I personally don't know how you could spend $300 on a pair of snakes and not know what they are but she was living on the pretty nice part of town so maybe she just had money to blow like that... I don't know. I got them anyway just to see what happens since they do have nice markings mabye something will come out of it who knows.

So what either happened was she got ripped off buying a pair of snakes she thought were pastels.. or they're het for something. What I'm thinking COULD have happened in a very very long shot that if the guy she got them from didn't rip her off and she really did pay $150 each for a pair of something 3 years ago.. that they might be het pieds.. because I think if you didn't know much about ball pythons or the morphs then "pastel" and "het pied" could be mistaken for each other if you haven't really heard of them before..

So here are some pictures of them last year around this time when I got them. The male has lots of yellow on his sides and a pretty spotted belly. The female has the more clean looking belly and they both have good blushing in the black on their sides.
The female has been locking up the male several times in the last month and I have a good feeling she's starting to build and might be going sometime later around September.

I would love to hear what people have to say and think about this!

You can't really guess hets with 100% accuracy. You would have to breed them together and see if any visual offspring appear.

However, by looking at the snakes themselves, I'll say that the first pictured snake can "possibly" be het for pied. It has the train track markers. But I've also seen normals with the tracks too. And the second doesn't have a clean belly.

Overall, all you can do is prove them out. Good luck.

Both look normal, but they could be het for anything. You'd just have to breed and see if they produce anything visual.

As others have said they are normals until proven otherwise. Also, I believe 100% het pieds(or atleast females) were alittle more expensive then $150 3 years ago. Female 100% het pieds are still in the $150-$200 range right now.

I don't know of any Hets that the same age/size male and female have the same value...

Yeah I was just wondering if anyone had any input on what they look like they could be het for if they just so happen to be but I'm planning on getting an all normal clutch and anything else would be a bonus. I'm just trying to figure out what some possibilities would be and if anything they show stand out to anyone as a het for something. Hopefully she'll start building up so some follicles and I'll find out what she produces within the year. I don't think the lady was trying to lie to me about anything. Just makes the clutch more anticipating I guess lol.

That's true coldblood.. I was thinking the same thing. I thought maybe though that she could have just paid $300 for the pair and said she paid $150 for each. I don't know... there's too many maybe's and flaws. I'm just expecting all normals.

If it was $300 for the pair they could be Albino, Hypo or maybe Axanthic...
