    Odd behavior

My normal male hasn't eaten in 10 days. I'm worred because he is 600 grams at one year and eight months. What I have observed is that he seems to more interested in coming out of his tub than food. Could it be because of the new female I have? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Not eating in 10 days isn't no big deal.

My bf has two adult male BPs who have been off feed and are only interested in getting out of their tubs then to eat (same with my big girls) so I think it may just be the season (my big girls stopped eating around December, winter fasts) or that he is looking for the girls.

I'd just monitor his weight and offer every week. He'll break when he's ready.

    Re: Odd behavior

I wouldn't worry too much. My little male has done this to me periodically since he was a little thing and he's fine. just wait and offer food again on your normal feeding day.

Like others have said 10 days definitely isn't a big deal. Just continue offering every week and monitor his weight. We currently have a few animals that have been off food since Dec-Jan.

Okay thank you. I know it's not too long but I'm worried because he's so small. I guess he'll eat when he wants to.

That's ball pythons for you, pretty much... Who knows why they do what they do? Particularly when it comes to food. So long as he doesn't look emaciated I really wouldn't worry about it.

    Re: Odd behavior

I put him in with my breeding weight female and he found her very fast. Should I see if they lock or put him back in his own tub?

    Re: Odd behavior

At that weight I wouldn't... but I'm not a breeder, so I'm not the best person to ask.

    Re: Odd behavior

I think I'll wait on breeding until next season. That way my female should be 2000g or more and I can pair her with my pastel.
