Opinions on rats eyes
I have two pet rats. One of them is very light colored. Recently I have been noticing this brown gunk around his eyes. I have seen light-colored or white dogs with the same thing. Does this just come with light-colored rats or should I be concerned?
His eyes look normal besides the gunk. No signs of infection or anything. This just seems to be recent... like within the past few weeks so I am a little concerned.

Same thing happened to one of mine... not trying to scare you but one of my males had it and it got worse and worse to the point where he could barely open his eyes.
He started looking skinnier and skinner and one day he just got so weak he could barely move. He's the first rat that I've ever had die on me... (except when snakes ate ofcourse)
And it just happened not too long ago, like 3-4 days ago.... I have no idea what may have caused it... But he is house with another male but I've never seen them fight. All of my other rats are fine.. I feed them good quality mazuri rodent diet and they always have water....

OMG Autocorrect. It is a common infection caused by bedding such as care fresh that holds in ammonia from urine. I was told to use Tylan diluted in their water bottle for 2 to 3 weeks and if I don't see improvement then they will need baytril. I am sorry you lost your rat this way. It's apparently fairly common and easily treated
