    Pro product rhp

I just received my Constrictor NW pro modular cage it's 36x24x14. I purchased a pro product rhp. A 40 watt, it's been plugged in for about 3 hours now and isn't up to 83 degrees yet. I have it plugged into a hydrofarm thermostat, with probe directly on bottom of enclosure with 2 other thermometers and they all read just above 82 degrees. Is this normal, does it take that long to come up to temp?

What is the hydrofarm set to?

if you think that it isn't working properly try plugging it directly into the wall and see what happens (make sure that there isn't a snake in the cage while you are doing this)

No snake in cage, just doing some setup checks. I've got it set at 90 just to see what the basking spot will get to at this, but I've never used an RHP before and was wondering if this was normal to take so long to heat up. It's coming up, just very slowly.

mine didn't take that long. I would try plugging it straight into the wall and see what happens

I plugged it straight into the wall tonight about an hour ago, and it's up to 85 in a 70 degree room. I don't have any substrate or anything in the enclosure just the hdpe flooring. If that makes any difference.

just out of curiosity what type of thermometers are you using to check the temps? RHP's heat the objects in the enclosure more than the air so that might be playing into this.

does the accurate have a probe?

If nothing else call pro products, I'm sure they can help you out. I have a 40 watt RHP in my animal Plastics T12 but I only use it to maintain the air temperature/ cool side at 80 degrees, so I haven't ever run it as hot as you are trying to.

No probe just an indoor type. I'll keep messing with it. It may help once i get substrate in i hope. I've got a pro exotics temp gun on the way to check temps also. Thanks for your input.
