my power is out
How long will my snakes be ok before I need tp start worrying? Power is supposed to be back in two hours. I can bring the snakes into my kitchen if need be and turn my stove own because it is a gas stove.

Re: my power is out
Two hours should be fine. The room and UTH should hold residual heat (as long as your aren't constantly opening doors ), and a little bit of a chill is less dangerous to them than overheating. Just monitor your temps - below 75 ambient obviously isn't ideal, but down to 70 or so shouldn't create any lasting impact.

Your snakes will be fine. Two hours isnt anything to worry about. Now two days or weeks yeah that would be a problem.

Hi,
Don't forget you can use the stove to heat water then put it in soda bottles or such that can be placed in the tubs.

Re: my power is out
Thanks everyone. The power came on faster then expected and the snakes are just fine thanks to Dr. Del and his advice.

Re: my power is out
Just remember not to make them too hot.
I also use them when transporting snakes to the vets etc. as long as it isn't too long a journey.

Good to know that your power is back on and that your snakes are safe.
I've used the opposite water bottle method for mammals. On hot days, I freeze water bottles to put into enclosures because I don't have air conditioning. But I never thought about putting hot/warm water into them to use. Great advice Dr. Del!

I'll add a little tidbit to Del's advise. I Keep in my snake room washed cleaned out bottles two for every enclosure tub or container that houses snakes in the snake room ready to go. It sucks running around looking (or dumping full ones out) for empty bottles.
