Pine?

So i've got a giant bag of pine shavings and as far as i can tell it's not kiln dried. I was wondering if i can use this at all? Maybe if i sift out the dust as much as possible? or is it just the oils? Kind of a bummer cause of how cheap it is. Thanks.

its the oils in the pine its toxic to snakes being they absorb it through their skin ceder is also not good for the same reason you can try aspin, or cypress mulch from a reputable carrier

I have used pine shaving and pine pellets for years now without any issues, I do so with both rats and mice.

the brand is xylo of oklahoma. their website doesn't say if it is kilned or not.
Deborah-is the pine you use kilned? Also, can you use pine pellets by itself?

I use straight pine pellets, Equine Fresh to be exact. Works good

I also use Pine shavings on babies until weaned.

I also use Equine Fresh and then a layer of pine shavings over top. Never had an issue, and this does alright at keeping down the smell.

Awesome! one more question if you don't mind, do i need to sift out the really small peices, or does it really matter?
