Am I missing something? I didn't see them replying off your comment, they were just replying to the thread.
To the OP: Congrats on your purchase and I can't wait to see your unboxing video

So what'd you get? Did I miss it or did you not say?

My snake came from BHB mite free. She contracted mites a few weeks ago from some moss I bought at PetCo (That have since been sent to mite hell by PAM), but she arrived from them in perfect health. Just sayin'. The whole mite thing comes from one or two incidents as far as I know. Mountain out of a molehill IMO.

you're not missing anything. they were just replying to the thread but this poster must have somehow not realized that. unless he had quoted you there really isn't any reason for you to assume he was referencing your post.

The invoice wasn't big enough to read what you bought. What morph was it?
I had heard about that whole mite situation months ago and I don't think it really says anything about the quality of BHB's snake care. All my reading leads me to the conclusion that mites are fairly common and can be in just about any substrate package. The only way to be sure not to get them is not to use any wood products. They can even come in wood hides if they aren't treated beforehand. Not sure whether it's possible to treat substrate though.
I was thinking of using coconut fiber with my first ones but have been told that type of substrate isn't foolproof even though it's less likely to carry mites, so I may just use paper towel.
I would buy from BHB if I were to find what I want at the right price. They were the ones who first really got me hooked on Ball Pythons and they do alot of education. I'm assuming they have treated their racks and snakes once they discovered a problem.

Re: BP ordered from BHB
And just how did all that start. I think it was a miss understanding. If I received a snake that has mites I am not going to complain to the company that sent the snake. I would indeed let them know that hey, this one had mites, Thought you should know. I didn't go and look at the other two peoples threads due to the fact by the way it was put they got a snake from the very close together.

Thanks for this, I always do this. every Time I get a new animal, or caging I clean it out. I have never gotten mites, Thank God. But it is like fleas, its a part of keeping reptiles. If it does have mites I will let Brian and Lacy know about the problem.
Giftbearer... It wasn't an invoice it was my fedex tracking info. I just thought I would say what it was, I think I will wait until the unboxing video

without derailing this even further, yes it seems I misunderstood. it was late and I didn't properly read the following responses. however, the poster immediately following me stated he would order from BHB but for his "dead animal phobia."

taken as a generalization, which is apparently how it was intended, that statement is so far out of left field that I assumed it had to be in response to something I'd said or related to BHB in some way. since I am only aware of the mite issue from reading about people's recent experiences, but have not yet done any business with BHB myself, I wanted to make it perfectly clear that I was not responsible for saying anything about dead animals. I certainly didn't mean to inject any unnecessary drama or rain on the OP's excitement. preparation and awareness are good things, and that's all I was attempting to communicate.

unfortunately mites are fairly common, but they do not come from any wood products. or moss. honestly. wood mites do exist, and sometimes may inhabit packaged substrate or wood decorations, but they are not harmful to your collection. reptile mites come from other reptiles, not from substrate.
apologies for further cluttering the thread. OP, please put it back on track and keep us updated when your package arrives.
