    Pastel het pied $ question

So I am getting a male pied & started pricing het females just have some options. I was thinking a het would be great but why not get a jump start on multi gened pieds.

So a normal het female seems to be around $150-$250 or so.
A regular pastel female is roughly $200

I found a pastel het pied for $750...

I am not saying it's not worth it but I was thinking they would be around $400-$500. Just curious if that is about the going price for them? It also seems that there are not a lot of pastel het pied around, only found a few on the classifieds so I am assuming that is why the cost is high.

If that's the case I guess my male pied will meet my female pastel in a dark tub one day soon.

Re: Pastel het pied $ question

Age/size of the female as well as percentage of het would all factor into the asking price. If someone were asking that for a 50% possible het animal, I wouldn't even consider it at that price. For a 100% het for pied pastel, female, yes. All what the market and consumer (in this case, you) is willing to pay. That and what level of quality the animal is, just like anything. I'll pay quite a bit more for a 25 year old scotch than what I will for a 25 day old beer, lmao! Just sayin'...

I actually just purchased one and she arrived today. She is a 500 gram pastel and 100% het for Pied

The price you listed is about right.

I was lucky enough to pick up a female pastel 66% het pied for £190 last year and, she has started to show tramlines as she grows. I'm very pleased with her as a bargain buy but probably wouldn't have bought if I didn't already have a visual male pied.

$750 seems about right. Maybe a bit more if it is a especially sweet lineage of Pastel.

The price of a multi-gene morph is generally always more than the sum price of the individual morphs. The individual components cannot generally be added up to get a price for a multi-gene morph. Lower supply is one reason for the higher price but also the time involved (which is also a factor for the lower supply).

For a more extreme example, I saw a pied albino the other day for close to 15k. Individually, a pied and albino are worth around 1.2k together. The years and patience to produce a double recessive morph are represented in the price.

$750 is a good price... if she looks good, you should snap her up!
