    Best Substrate

I know there is a care sheet thread already up but I wanted to know what everyone was using and what was one of the easiest ones to use. I don't want to use newspaper because it's ugly and I heard AstroTurf kept the smells in. I could use some help lol

I really like corrugated wrap. It looks better than newspaper and is really easy to keep your tank clean with it.

100 people will tell you 100 different things. The cheapest thing other that paper is aspen, you can go to stores like tractor supply and get a huge bag for about $10. Cypress is pretty good at holding moisture and so is eco earth loose substrate....eco earth is just a pain to clean out and you'll have to let it dry out a little before you put it in otherwise your humidity will be 100%.

The corogated paper looks like a perfected zin garden lol.

    Re: Best Substrate

I know it's gonna' sound like a blinding flash of the obvious, but the best substrate is the one that works for you. The best substrates are, absorbent, have a low dust factor, and are easy to clean. For me, looks are way down on the list. BPs really aren't a display snake, and neither is their substrate.

Cardboard, it's basically half of a sheet of it.

    It even comes in colors:

Depends on what your goin for. Newspaper is the easiest to clean, cypress holds the best humidity levels but sucks during the cooling season, aspen holds good temps and humidity, corrugated paper works well and its basically thinner cardboard so it holds better humidity then newspaper. Astroturf i think personally sucks.

I guess I understand the visual appeal of astro truf, but I don't care what you do to try and clean it, I don't think you can ever get all the stuff out of it. Too many places for bad thing to hide.
