New lizard buddy. Uromastyx or bearded dragon?
Hey, I'm new to bp.net. So far me likes it . Anyways, I'm trying to decide between a bearded dragon or a uromastyx. So far the main difference between the 2 are crickets and size. Am I missing any determining factors? Any suggestions?

I don't know anything about uromastyx's but I think that they have different temperature requirements than bearded dragons.
I recently got a little bearded dragon and love her

Have you thought of a blue tongue skink? I find them quite adorable :3

Yea uromastyx like it HOT but that's just a difference in initial set up with not a big diff. In cost. The crickets are a huge factor since uro just eat seed and fresh veg. But they are both equally adorable. So its tough! Have you seen silk beardies? I'm working with one right now and I have to apply lotion to him 3 times a day because he has no scales. It's crazy!

And honestly I'll most likely end up with both eventually.

I vote uros. They have great personalities.

Skinks get rather large don't they? I've got an iguana and a sulcata so I don't know if I realistically want another giant . I'll run outta room

Re: New lizard buddy. Uromastyx or bearded dragon?
We have a uro, and we got him because of the personality he displayed in the pet store. What a comedian! We have thought we would like a beardie, but getting crickets several time a week have out weighed that decision. Our uro eats lettuce, loves watermelon, dandelions,, strawberries, and blueberries. And he likes it hot hot hot! Beardies may have more personality, but more labor intensive.

Beardies only eat that many crickets during their first year. After that the protein part of their diet is very minimal.

I think I've decided on a uromastyx. Right size, relatively easy care and good size thanks all
