Credit Score
I was talking to my mom, who is not too tech savey, about our credit. I have only tried one to check it about 2 years ago when I was 18 for a class but had issues. I would like to try again and she would like to see hers but I'm afraid to do any of the online stuff because I have a fear of my identity being stolen. So what site(s) are safe to check my credit scores? And she wants to know if it will show any open loans? She is trying to get a new car but the dealership is saying that she has an open car loan, which she shouldn't since she has only bought 2 cars in the past 10 years and they were both payed with cash.

It doesn't show scores, but you will see everything on your credit report...

Thanks looking though her history it looks like the open loan they are talking about is the car her and my dad got a few years ago that was totaled in an accident.

She needs to find out the status of that loan. If the remaining loan was for more then what the insurance paid off and there was no gap insurance ( on the loan itself) there could be a remaining debt that will continue to report negative, and delinquent.

This site does give you an in depth credit report AND your score (it might ask for an additional charge to disclose your credit score - but the price is negligible - but that's if I'm remembering correctly).
On a side note: don't get all three of your scores at once and I'll tell you why: it's a good ideal to monitor your credit throughout the year and if you get reports from all of the credit unions at once, you'll have to pay to check again that year. I've worked it out to where I check my credit report and score every 4 months. Call me paranoid but I do like to know what's going on with my credit especially considering it's important for things in the future like getting house loans and it's also beneficial in weeding out potential identity thieves (which I hope isn't the case with your mom).
Just my 0.02 cents on the matter though. I hope your mom gets the car loan thing all sorted out!
