    Retained Eye Caps

I was wondering what the best way to get retained eye caps off is. I don't really want to risk injuring my BP by doing the tape method, and the running him through a damp wash cloth/towel and applying gentle pressure method hasn't worked. I would prefer not to wait till the next shed, but I think he is going to shed soon because his underside has started to have a slight salmon pink hue to it. Should I just wait for them to come off in the next shed? What if they don't?

As Jerry said just raise the humidity and wait for the shed.

Yep one of mine had a bad shed last time with stuck cap. As soon as he went blue this time I jacked the humidty up to about 85%...Perfect shed this time...

I've only had that problem a couple times, one of the times bumping up the humidity took care of it, the other time he made it past his second shed and still had stuck eye caps. When I have really bad sheds that I can't fix by bumping up the humidity, I put the snake in a plastic tub with warm water and a hand towel for about 15 minutes. Then run the hand towel down the snake head to tail and that should take care of the problem. If not, soak the snake for another 15 minutes.

I've heard bumping up the humidity really high increases the risk for a RI? Any truth to this?
