How long for provent a mite to work?

last week I used provent a mite for my bp. When I used it, I took the substrate out, sprayed down the tub, let it dry, then replaced the substrate. Its been five days and the mite problem is noticably better, but I still see a couple crawling around if I look hard. Before I sprayed, I saw them on him just by looking in the cage but now I have to actually pick him up and check his entire body before I see one so its definitely better. I am thinking about changing the substrate and giving the new substrate a spray. Would this be ok, or should I just wait more because the provent a mite is doing its job? Basically, how long does it take provent a mite to get rid of mites completely?

I soaked my snakes every night after I used PAM and I retreated after about a week just to kill any scragglers I could see. I haven't seen one since.

A week? I thought you have to wait 2-3 weeks before retreating? Follow the directions in the can.

Hmm... I haven't seen any mites on my boa for a few days. I think it takes a weekish for the adult mites to be gone. You could spray the substrate but if I were you I'd, switch to paper towels or newspaper until the mite are gone. Then go back to your usual substrate after 4-6 weeks at the very least.

You don't have to wait 3 weeks to retreat. I completely cleaned out my tubs after a week and retreated then, after the second treatment they were gone. I'd still retreat 3 weeks after the first treatment like the can says to kill any eggs that decided to hatch but other than that as long as you clean it out retreating won't harm anything. If anything it's just wasting the PAM since it can take 1-2 weeks to kill all the adults. I didn't mind wasting it though I wanted them gone quick lol.

Mine worked instantly. The day after treatment, I never saw another mite again.

Mine must have had super mites. I mean the next day I did see quite a few "dead bodies" on the floor of the enclosure, but I still saw some crawling around. Depending on where the mites came from and how infested they were I think depends on how quickly the PAM works.

Im guessing so too. When I caught the mites, I think it was pretty bad because I saw 3 or four on his back right away. I sprayed the cage down 5 days ago and dont see them anymore on his back, but when I picked him up and took a close look at his belly, there were some dead and a couple crawling around. I didnt spray down the substrate really so Ill probably take it out, change it, and give it a quick spray. I think that'll do the trick. I'll give it a couple extra hours to dry because I did spray the cage once when it was empty

If your using substrate and have a mite problem i wouldnt use substrate till the mite problem is taken care of. Treat the tub, soak the snake, treat any hides or anything else you may have in their and then put newspaper or paper towels down till you know youve solved the mite problem. Paper towels work great cause you will see mites easy.
