Ok so, I just made a new hide today and i didnt even think that spray paint could be bad for my boy before I made it. Is it ok to use any spray paint or is there a certain kind that i need to use? Thanks in advanced.

coat it with a krylon spray on clear coat, as far as i know, all of their products are non toxic, i used it to coat a branch i have in my snakes tank, and i just gave it a week to dry and air off, im gonna see what their website says and i'll get back to you

What is a primer?
A primer is designed to be used on bare metal, wood, or other surfaces to seal the surface, increase adhesion, improve corrosion resistance and ensure true color.

When should I use a primer?
Always. A primer smooths uneven surfaces and makes the finish coat beautiful and long lasting.

How do I remove the paint from my project?
Most paints can be removed with a lacquer thinner. Please refer to the instructions on the back of the can.

What is a recoat window?
The amount of application time allowed to apply several coats of paint before needing to allow time for the paint to cure.

Will I see a difference in color or finish if my project is completed in stages?
For best results, always apply a coat to the entire projects as opposed to completing parts of the project in stages.

Do you recommend spraying indoors or outdoors?
Spray outdoors whenever possible or make sure indoor area is well ventilated by opening doors, windows or using a fan. Always follow label directions and warnings when using any aerosol paint.

Are any of your paints toxic?
All Krylon® products are non-toxic when dry. When applying the paint, be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and follow the directions on the label.

What should I do if sand or dirt gets on my freshly painted, wet or tacky surface?
Depending on the severity, you should either (1) remove the paint in the affected area and repaint or (2) for less severe areas, recoat the area and then recoat the project after it has dried.

How do I unclog the paint tip?
If the spray tip is clogged, wear eye protection, wipe off the button opening with clean warm water or lacquer thinner (dependent on product). Do not stick pins or wire into the tip opening.

How do I prevent the tip from clogging?
Clean the valve tip after each use by holding the can upside down and spraying until only clear gas is released.

Should I always protect my area from overspray?
Yes. Overspray can occur indoors and outdoors.

Should I test my spraying technique before painting my project?
It’s a good idea to test your technique on a piece of scrap material prior to beginning your project.

What is the best technique when spraying?
Always begin and finish your spray pattern off of the object, releasing the button at the end of each pass. Take your time and use several light coats (2-3) as opposed to one thick coat.
