    I M G morph or not

i bought a snake that the seller was calling an IMG (increased melanin Gene) and that it was recessive. I did some research and the only thing i found is at RDR and he called him dirty Joe. I contacted him and he said his snake turned out not to be genetic. With the price i paid for him i am not worried if he turns out to be nothing was just wonderin if anyone knows anything about him and if there is any reason to pursue this morph

anything is worth pursing if you go the resources to do it. How bout some pics? Chances are we are going to be left saying your just going to have to breed and prove it out yourself.

    Re: I M G morph or not

I have a reported import girl I named Dirty Josefina after Dirty Joe. Was really bummed when he didn't prove. I may finally get babies from her and her pastel son this year but I'm not expecting it to prove as I don't think any of the other IMG's have. But you got to try just in case. I think at least some that are called IMG are the changer phenomena where a snake suddenly turns axanthic looking in one shed. I've heard a few theories on why that might happen but nothing that sounded definite. My girl was 688 grams and looked like a true ghost when I got her so don't know if she might have hatched normal and suddenly changed or not. She soon started to pick up a cream color in her dorsal stripe and the increased dark IMG look. The constant blurriness of her lower sides is the main thing that gives me some hope she might be something genetic.

    Re: I M G morph or not

i have tried 3 times to post a pic im not computer iliterate but i cant figure it out but he looks alot like female in above pic, maybe not quite as silver more blackish my avatar pic is a close up of his side i figure ill run him through a female and at worse case i can sell some normals to my local pet shop i have seen some pics of a snake that looked like a cross between img and yellow belly might be that the gene only presents itself when mixed with something else i only have 30 dollars in him so if he dont prove anything then oh well would be a cool gene to mix with dark morphs if someone could figure out genetics behind them if there is any

The best way to post pictures is to upload the image to a photo hosting site like photobucket. Once the picture is up copy the "direct link" code. You then past this code into the picture insert tool in a post.
