    Question Soaking for days??

My 800gram normal female has been soaking in her water dish for almost 4 days now. She also refused her last rat, but ate a mouse. No mites, temps are perfect, humidity is a little low. Any ideas??

Shes probably just going into shed or about to shed. Mine will do this all the time before they shed. You havnt been breeding her have you? How old is she? sometimes females that are building folicles will soak for long periods of time but at 800g's I doubt thats the case for you.

She could be developing follicles. It is very possible. Obviously in captivity we wouldn't breed her at that size, but again, it is possible. Also, she could have mites that you are not seeing.

Possibly. Her eyes haven't clouded over yet or went blue though. Just thought it was strange. As far as I know she's almost a year & no I haven't been breeding her.

I thought she might have mites too, but as long as she's been soaking I figured there would be some dead mites floating in the water but there aren't.
