Custom Iguana Cage Question

Hi, im looking to build a new cage for my green iguana because he is growing. I want this cage to look both visually appealing but suit my iguanas needs so im planing on building it out of plywood, and then staining it. I know the pine would hurt the iguana so how can i seal the wood so the oils dont harm him? I was thinking of covering the inside with those laminate strips (the ones that look fake wood for flooring) so the inside of the tank looks good and is easy to clean. Thoughts?

Just a water-based wood sealant would do fine. I have my bearded dragons cage sealed with miniwax water-based polycrylic. This is a relatively low humidity environment with no standing water and very little liquid waste to speak of... I also have recently finished sealing the interior of my BPs new enclosure with it. Granted, I also put vinyl down in this one so that standing water wouldn't be an issue... The laminate you're talking about is I believe the same material they use in melamine (which is just a laminated MDF board)... so I would expect that to be safe. I'd still seal the wood underneath it, then sand it for a good surface to apply the laminate too. Can never be too safe
