Closer shot of Honey Island SD

Had Cleo out for cage cleaning and took a couple quick pics. She's a 4 1/2 year old Madu/Honey Island SD Retic. Still no more than 6ft and 10 lbs. Thicker at her widest point than a Kaoloata or Kayaudi true SD but I do love the brighter colors.

I do wish more people would have gotten and worked with this locale to keep it pure before the ban on exportation from the islands went into effect. They're so beautiful. I may never find another one

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous! I'm kind of looking around for an SD. Nothing serious yet as I don't currently have room. But I don't even know of anyone that is currently breeding them. :/ Sad. Where did you get your beautiful SD? Obviously with the ban on exportation they would be extremely hard to come by.

Oh no not at all. There are people breeding the true SD's. Just wait a few months until babies begin to hatch and you'll see them all over the classifieds. The darker olive green colored ones with the shorter noses, smaller more slender bodies, and bigger eyes are the true SD's from the other 2 Islands. Many more of them were brought in than the Honey Island SDs. There are more people in Europe working with these and more people here working with the smaller SDs.

You'll find one no problem. I got this girl a couple years ago from a small breeder in Florida but they aren't working with them anymore.

That's a relief. I think they're beautiful. Just a little bit smaller an easier to handle than a dwarf. Though I haven't ruled those out either. Your gorgeous girl there just happens to be the prettiest I've ever seen! Too bad they stopped breeding them. I live in Florida, so that would have been super convenient. I'll find one probably in a year or two when I can afford a bigger condo. I've already got to save up for a Boaphile enclosure for my Dumeril's Boa. She's around two feet and not even six months old yet! Lol.

You wouldn't need a big cage for a true SD. Especially if you got a male. He'd be lucky to hit 5ft. This was a little true SD I had but sold. He was all 5's.... 5 years old, 5ft long, 5lbs. Tiny little things they are!

Looking good! Thanks for sharing the shots. My girl is coloring up nicely. She's a dark silver/purple look to her that's simply amazing. I'll have to get updated shots eventually. They are super hard to photograph by yourself properly.

    Regards,

    B
