she won shed. tired of waiting.
Sorry more of a rant than anything. My albino has been in shed for over a week now and just won't shed. I've had her last 2 mice just sitting in a bin waiting for her to shed and poop so she can eat again and she just stays curled up and doesn't come out an night like normal or anything. She just sits in her hide day and night. I switched her substrate to alpine like just before her eyes got foggy and I don't know if that's having anything to do with it or what but I doubt it. I'm just not liking keeping her in high humidity for so long waiting for her to do her thing. Usuallu I can determine within 24 hours if she is going to shed or not but not this time I m also tired of having to take care of her food lol. But that's part of it. Well I hope she does her business soon or she is just going to have to do a 60% humidity shed. Cause I'm not keeping it bumped up like that for much longer. I keep checking on her to see if she is healthy and all seems well so I'm taking it that she just isn't ready yet. So I will continue to wait. Sorry for the rant.

It takes a minimum of 7 days to complete a shed cycle, and 10 to 12 is more likely. A few of mine take 14 days plus from start to finish.
She'll do this on her time, not yours. Might as well get used to it.

I'm just not used to her taking this long is all. I could care less if she takes her time. I'm more frustrated with the fact I can't tell when its gonna happen. Must be a part of her getting bigger and just taking more time to prepare a larger skin surface to be removed. But thanks for the info.

Yea usually the process takes closer to 10-14 days. There's different stages in a shed. If she's been in her hide a lot more then normal, that's actually typical behavior for bps in shed. My girl (we used to have) took a min of 10 days on average to complete shed and hid most of the time. Give it time she'll get there and she'll be super hungry after hope this helps!

Thanks just not used to it. She has never not shed within 3 days of her eyes getting cloudy. But I've heard before that albinos eyes can be misleading from time to time. I'm just waiting for the big poopy present she's been saving for me for 2 weeks now lol.

Does she not normally eat while in shed? I would try to feed her. Some of mine will take a rat while in shed, just make sure its pre-killed or you supervise closely. It might help to loosen up some of that skin around her head as well.
