    Vanilla opinions?

So here's the three "vanillas" I hatched out this year. These guys came from a dual sired clutch, black pastel yellow belly/vanilla bred to a het hypo girl. First picture is the clutch right out of the egg -- 1.1 yellow bellies and 0.3 vanillas...

Here's what the three vanillas look like now... the two on the side are what I'm generally used to seeing vanillas look like on the forums, and the one in the middle is the big question mark for me. Is she 'just' a really nice vanilla or something more? They are all possible het hypo, could it just be that she landed with the het hypo gene and it's showing through a bit?

Nice looking pythons Chris. I'd hazard a guess that if any of them are het hypo it's the girl in the middle. I have several 100% het hypos that obviously carry the gene. It's easier to deduce because of their overall lighter appearance and color. I have a Black Pastel het Albino possible het Hypo that's several shades lighter than all his siblings with a high orange dorsal striping. I'd wager a decent amount that he's het hypo as well. I'm a pretty firm believer that most possibles can be earmarked one way or the other based on their overall look compared to clutchmates.

I was leaning towards the het hypo explanation but wasn't sure if it would wipe out the vanilla head spot so much. Just to throw another monkey wrench in, here's a picture of the sire with a pinstripe...

Definitely the brightest vanilla I've seen, and the breeder that produced him doesn't have any hypos in his collection that he knows of... You can see he's just as bright as the girl in question, but has that distinctive head spot vanillas are known for.

That's the girl, and she's staying right here also. Both yellow bellies were smokers though, they came from a Barnhart line black pastel yellow belly.

Truthfully, she looks most like the vanillas I hatched last season. But then again, my male vanilla is outstanding as far as I'm concerned, and the female is a ridiculously light normal so that might have something to do with it.

Based on her genetics, I'd guess she hit the het Hypo. I don't know about any other morph, but it seems to me I see changes in het Hypo offspring a LOT of the time.

Have any pictures of your vanillas? I jumped on my male immediately when I saw him posted for sale and haven't really seen many that came close to him yet... If you're producing vanillas just as good that's definitely good info to know.
