Cool boa! I had a dum he was very timid.
Same here!! That's exactly why I chose that avatar . And that's hilarious !!
Thank you! I hear they can sometimes be nervous. Haven't experienced this myself yet though.

As well as a tegu, since Sk's avatar reminded me of it.
Anywho, cool pictures! There aren't enough pictures of dumeril's on here.
They are amazing boas to have. Thank you! I agree!

She is gorgeous. Is a dumeril a boa that one handler can safely manage for it's life time??
I would like to get one but am alone with providing their care.

I believe their docile nature makes them fairly simple to handle. It's an awesome way to get used to handling larger snakes as well. Even though she is quite heavy and a bit much for my size, I find her as easy to handle just as my other snakes are.
I haven't heard of a Dumeril's being a two-person handling job, but I would definitely see that would be the case if the specimen was growing to be 8 ft+. Fortunately, males do not reach the lengths that females do, so one person could feel comfortable handling an adult male without any assistance.
If you are interested, a male would be the way to go if you are worried about size. Dumeril's are slow growers, so it does take time for them (3+ years) to reach their adult lengths.

So you would suggest getting a baby and raising it up rather than buying an adult - just wondering
Thanks

I wouldn't see why not, I purchased my first Dumeril's as a baby. But I definitely do not regret purchasing my big girl as an adult.
