That's the one I bought and it's going strong. After almost 4 years I've only had to replace the batteries twice!

I collect only Colubrids, it can be a truley rewarding experience. Theres a complete different level of respect with Colubrids than there is with Pythons, Boas, etc.
I have Kings, Rats, and a Corn hybrid. Kings and Rats are my favorite and are amazing, i never was a fan of Corns though, their color morphs never struck my interest. Kings have amazing color morphs and are rewarding to breed (if this is what you wish to do, keep in mind you may lose a couple specimens due to their cannabalistic nature). In my opinion though, Kings really are the KINGS of all snakes.
If you want my $.02 go ahead and give Kings a try, i think you'll find them very interesting. As for hogs hopefully someone else will post some info to better help you in that area.
Good luck!

Thanks for the input and the link for the temp gun!
drama, I had a king years ago (black and yellow banded cali) and for a long time I was kind of scared of him lol. Took me months to realize that little tail rattling thing he did was all bluff. lol
He was a great eater but would regurge if I handled him for any reason for 3 days after he ate. He did NOT like rats at all (tried once and he put up a huge fuss!) So I learned pretty quick to not touch him at all for 3 days after feeding and not to feed him rats. Oh, and he was prone to biting most guys. He loved females though I got him as a sub adult so I don't have any experience with hatchlings. He was a great snake after learning him and was no longer a bit leery of handling him. Loved his huff and puff attitude. But I don't know if that's typical of kings or just his own special style. I really love the different black and white patterns, especially the reverse stripe. They're on my list because this is the one experience I've had with kings and after a bit of a rocky start, I really enjoyed having him. Wish there was no need to rehome him, or my burm for that matter, but divorce can suck.

Yeah see, thats what i mean when i say theres a complete different level of respect with colubrids, they are snappy and love to bluff. Especially rat snakes, their the snappiest of all the colubrids in my opinion. Almost every king i had either snapped or musked, its a natural attitude, though iv had one that was a complete sweetheart (god bless her soul, she passed a few weeks ago). And people who say corns are the most docile make me laugh, coming from the rat snake family they are snappy as well, especially as babies, they twitch and move out quick, their sketchy as all hell lol.
But good luck in your endeavors friend, hopefully you start up a collection of colubrids, and if so id love to see some pics in the near future!

Maybe its just me but I think Kenyan Sand Boas are really neat. I have never owned one but I have done some research on them and they really struck my interest. You might check them out.

those are among the best for your money.
Also, Drama X is correct. Corns are not all that calm. I have had (and still do) only one, and though it has not attempted to bite me, it is very jumpy and for the first week it would strike a pose as if it was prepared to bite. Corns have even been known to shake their tails like rattlers.
