A perfect strike!!!

...errrrr...maybe not..
She slowly bit down on the tail. The rat then tried to run away. She dragged it back over then coiled it like this. Snakes are so odd.
I have had snakes take prey with headshots... butt shots... LEG shots... but never a tail shot!

LOL! I love these strikes, I always wonder what the snake was thinking!! LMAO thanks for sharing!

I kind of figure they're the result of millions of years of evolution to kill and eat rodents, so they're going to do it right. Even if they get bit, there's a reason why they shed after a bite, and there's always the vet too!
I've never had a bite though, so I'm happy. I usually dangle larger rodents so the sub adults can get a head shot every time.

HAHAHA! So good! I am so glad my girl takes f/t, I would probably panic every time. She can be kind of retarded with f/t though. No matter how much I warm the rodent, and I blow-dry the heck out of it, my hands are apparently either warmer, or just generally more interesting. I have ten inch feeding tongs and think I have shrieked every time I have fed her. Hilarious.

Re: A perfect strike!!!
My female spider caught herself once. Took me awhile to figure out how to get her teeth out of her own body, luckily, she was fine! weirdest strike I've ever seen though, she did a total 180, if you can even imagine what that looked like.

Re: A perfect strike!!!
I have a ball python that eats in the strangest way. I have been trying to get a video of it but have not had any luck. She will open her mouth and slowly approach the rat. She DOES NOT strick fast at all. She simply slides over to the rat with open mouth and slowly clamps down on it before wrapping it up.
Its like its no big deal to her. I havent seen a strike from her yet its like she just wants to wait until she feels the rat in her mouth and then she takes action.
Weird..
