I'm on the outside of this conversation. I like dubstep. However you can tell when someone thinks they know it and the only artist they can name is "Skrillex".

There's MUCH better out there. Glitch Mob, Nero, anything UKF, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, etc...

Here's some examples of what I listen to. Usually either racing or while working out.

Most of these are NSFW due to language, so please be aware.

So true, i'm actually not even a fan of skrillex, however glitch mob, nero, ukf, pretty lights, and bassnectar, and lets not forget rusko

Flux pavilion is also good but i don't know how much dubstep they do.

Only one I listen to is Korn ft Skrillix "Get up". Awesome gym song, has some colorful language though.

I really enjoy listening to Pretty Lights when I'm driving home from class late at night.

Dubstep is what my brother and his girlfriend like. I wouldn't call them hipsters. I'd call them weird glow stick loving hippies.

Man, I feel old. I haven't a clue what a hipster or dub step is. And I don't know why people are so testy about either.

ok.. I also want to add.. the handful of friends that I have that love dubstep.. none of them would even come close to being a hipster.. 3 of them look like "metal heads".. and the other 2 look like druggies.. LOL

and yes.. I noticed that about Skrillex also.. whenever I say something .. it's "you heard skrillex then?" .. yes.. yes I have. .. and no.. that's not all.. lol

Re: Dub Step: What Is It?

First of all, anyone who thinks dubstep is like techno obviously has no interest in electronic music. It comes from garage and like any other type of music has become bastardized. It used to be good, with some really dirty beats, but I haven't been keeping up with it. Anyone who is interested enough will go to your friendly neighborhood youtube and sift through it!

Now that I am home, this is what I can say is something I like. Well, the dance moreso than the song.
