And the countdown begins...
My fiance left yesterday morning at 11AM for Basic Training, and after MEPS, and 2 flights to TX from AL, he got there sometime between 530 and 630PM today.
So, now he's in his 0 Week of Training, and I'm trying hard to keep busy, even though it hasn't quite been 2 days.
I was fine up until he called me from the bus to Lackland, a few tears, some sniffles... Then he broke down and that got me... In three years, I've seen him cry all of 3 times, all but one was from being really happy/laughing, the other was from a bad fight... But that phone call got to me (I'm fine right now)
From here on out- I'm looking at it as this: I'll see him when he graduates basic, and with school, the time will fly by... I feel like after this first week, I'll be OK a good chunck of the time, and I can use this time to spoil Uther

First off - Hats off to your Fiance for enlisting
One thing I recommend is keep the letters coming to him, and pictures, they make everything so much better. (keep anything personal OUT, that will only cause problems, also dont send food, all youll do is get him ridiculed and feed the MTI) also, most MTI's nowadays will allow 5-15 minute phone calls on sunday afternoons, so stay by the phone if at all possible. Because if nobody answers, he doesnt get time until someone does, its either talking or wasting the time.
Lastly, stay strong. When speaking to him in letters or on the phone, if your upbeat and positive, it will make things 10x better for him.
Oh, for credibility, I graduated from Lackland in October 2011 - 321 TRS Flt 677 - Best and worst times of my life. I was later discharged from tech school for medical reasons (Honorable)
Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to PM me ill try to help you, so you know whats going on and what hes up to.

Well, as I started typin, his Momma got his "I'm here and safe" call. She said he sounds fine to her, so him breaking down earlier is either, just because he isn't afraid to cry around me... or it hit him at once how big this is for him and right now he's trying anything and everything not to do anything to be singled out by his TI's this early..
And oddly... I'm shaking from... Happiness!
And for me, he said absolutely no pictures are to be sent to him... He said he doesn't want any issues from it, and he wants to wait and see how his TI will take the other guys getting pictures, and he'll let me know.
By the way, thank you I'm definatly proud of him for it. It's been his dream since he was a little kid, and I'm happy that he gets to live out that dream, and all that.
