If it was infact a large rat it was probably to large, the largest I feed my adult females is small or medium rats. 1300 grams I would offer a small

Yup, a pet rat. They are very social and intelligent creatures. Not at all like a hamster, gerbil or mouse. More like a dog or cat and after proper socialization they can be little box trained and allowed free roam of the house for a few hours each day.
