I look at other things as well. What I notice on pastels are white lips which a lot of people don't notice, as well as blushing, eyes, brown out lines, and pale head stripes.

Browns on pastels also look very different from normals too. I have yet to see a normal that has the same tanish/yellow-brown coloration of even a very brown pastel.

I would still like to see a real belly shot to confirm. I don't see how everyone jumped on the "definite pastel" bandwagon after seeing two pics of the snake deep in shed and in blue so you can't even see the eye color.
I'm not saying that it's NOT a pastel, I'm just saying that I would be hesitant to claim 100% certainty from those pics... A pastel's belly should be clean and white without any of the dark squiggly marks that you often see in normals... Note how the belly scales are pure white? That's what you want to look for...

It's pretty easy to tell from looking at it. I've seen some very brown pastels but they still obviously pastels, like in this case. Also not all pastels have green eyes. My Pastel yellow belly has eyes that I would say were more of a golden color:

But he's still a pastel.
Also the animal was sold as a pastel, this isn't a case of animal being sold as a normal and someone thinking it's something more. There are more key characteristics to pastels than a clear belly (which is common with morphs) and green eyes, and it's because of those (blushing, the sides, the specific color of the brown) that I think it's definitely a pastel.

Re: Pastel or normal
The eyes seem more of a golden color than green to me. Underside is pure white, no markings
