Shed Question

Hi I just have a quick question about shedding. My little girl has shed once already, but last time she shed I had her in with sphagnum moss, a humid hide, and an analog humidity gauge. Since her last shed I have switched to aspen bedding and no humid hide. I also now have a digital humidity gauge. My question is "should I keep it at 60% humidity, or am I fine bumping it up to 70% while she is in shed?" I don't want to worry about RI's so this is why I am curious if it is ok for the humidity to be that high.

I would say that it depends on how good your airflow is. I just bump my tank up to 70% right before she sheds and then put it back to 60% when she is done. But I'm sure someone with more experience will let you know what they think cause I know some people dont like to bump the whole tank up due to RIs. Personally I dont think it will effect your snake as long as you have proper airflow.

I don't really have the greatest airflow which is why I am concerned. I have foil with duct tape on top with 2 squares cut out. I also put a dry towel on top which keeps the humidity at 60%. However, I've been misting to raise it up to 70.

You can put a damp towel on top instead of a dry one and that will help your humidity stay in. But airflow kills humidity as well so if you are losing humidity then Im sure your airflow is ok. I would just be sure after your BP sheds that you clean your tank out with cholorhexadine wipes just to kill bacteria that can form from high humidity. I know I dont raise the humidity until like 3 days after my BPs eyes show she is about to shed. But just clean your tank out as you should regarless and you will be fine.

I use tubs and they have very little air flow. During the summer my tubs are 65-70% a lot of the time.
