Strange behaviour!

Fed my pythons 2 days ago, had my bee out and was holding him. everything was fine for about 10min. he then wrapped around my hand and wrist started squeezing harder then he ever has before, turned his head sideways and started rubbing back and forth with his head, then slowy started to open his mouth. I grabbed his head with my free hand unwrapped him and placed back into tub.

now, was he going to try and bite my wrist or what?


I had a really bad experience with a large snake I had when I was younger, so still have a little fear and am still having trouble completly trusting my pythons and getting over the fear.. So it kind of freaked me out when he did that, even though I know there bite dosent hurt, its just from my bad childhood experience that i still am not completly confident with them..

Yikes that would make me nervous too! I have had no direct experience like this but I did hear of a similar experience once from friends of my family that I never fully believed until now haha.... They had a good sized ball python with a great temperament and one day it wrapped one of the girls wrists and tightened like you described, then it bit her slowly and continued to constrict. The family tried pulling it off with no success. Her hand had no circulation so they had to eventually pry his mouth open and ended up breaking his jaw, poor guy. Apparently the snake healed up fine but they gave him away after that. Very strange but apparently not totally uncommon from what you've said

Just out of curiosity...why would someone relate some horror story about a bp with a broken jaw to someone else that just stated that they had a bad experience as a child?

Very sorry to be insensitive, I didn't mean to come off that way or to scare further I had just heard of something similar and was hoping that two descriptions might help encourage a possible explanation from anyone else who knows more about snake behaviour...

Because the ball python in the story did exactly what Pythonoutlaw has described. Did you not read it?
