My New Rack that I built - similar to ARS
So I decided to put a link to my video showing off my new rack. It just needs paint and heat tape. I am pretty happy with the results!

That is very nice. How will you put your heat tape on that?
Also if you don't mind me asking, what would the materials for a rack like that run?

Re: My New Rack that I built - similar to ARS
Thanks for all the replies! I have been wanting to build one of these for a while. I really like the way ARS has put theirs together and people have really given them some high marks on the net. I love working with metal, and have never had much luck with making melamine racks, so I decided to give it a go. As far as how much it cost for materials, You will save money making one yourself if you have access to a welder and a reasonably priced supplier. You could save considerably! I plan on selling this one and will make more if the response is good. as far as heat goes I will do the same as ARS and freedom breeder with a piece of sheet metal in the back that is held in place with Velcro. As far as how long it took, I would say 5 or 6 hours. I will make a jig for the next ones and plan I doing the whole single level unit that stacks on each other. The best part is I have had such a blast making it and the kind words here is the icing on the cake! Thanks everyone!

I am very impressed! I'd like to see some pics after you get the heat installed if you can. Both my brother and father know how to weld, I'm thinking this might be a good winter project.
This may be a dumb question, but what are the chances of steel racks rusting? I'm guessing the paint minimizes that, but that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw that it was made of steel.

Re: My New Rack that I built - similar to ARS
I will be posting how I actually make them over the next couple of weeks with photos and video of the whole process. I am just try to get a set model that I am going to build. There has been a lot I have learned from this first rack. I had originally planned to make this one a 24 tub unit, but was concerned with the height as well as if I decided to sell it, it would be easier for someone to fork out half the money. I am planning on selling them in my local area of Phoenix, az., to help fund making more. I am curious as to what people think I should charge for them. I am in the process of painting this one with an enamel rustoleum paint. I hate painting and already looking at making a large oven for powder coating. But, that will only happen if I can sell a few. Thanks again for the nice comments. It does make me want to go do more an show you guys how to do it as well.
