    Herps and vacation

I know this has been asked before, but usually it's specifically for snakes. In December I am going to be going on a 1-2 week vacation, I haven't completely decided for how long yet. I really want to make sure I know the ins and outs of preparing my herps for my vacation.

With my snakes I plan on skipping their feeding the week before I leave so they will be pretty empty while I'm on vacation. I normally use paper towels in my tubs and I'm going to switch them to aspen when I leave because it's more absorbent and I will make sure everyone's water bowl is full. Does this sound like a reasonable plan? I don't have anyone who can come and check on them so they are going to be on their own.

It's my geckos that I don't know what to do with. I have leos and cresties and I just don't know what to do with them. I feel like the leos will be find with full water dishes, should I leave them meal worms too? With my cresties I'm almost wondering if I should just take them with me because there will be no one their to mist them or give them CGD. I don't really want to take them though because I am going to be driving from WI to NH with a dog and a cat in the car. Not only do I think this is will a very long trip in the car for them, I'm worried about the temps in the car and at my mom's house - I keep my apartment at about 80 year round for my herps, my mom's house never gets above 68 during the winter. What should I do?

    Perfect for the snakes.

Leos if you can get one of those fountains http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2753957 and have a dish full of mealies they should be fine as well.

Cresties on the other end for that length of time you will need to have someone take care of them, get them a small plastic tub like this http://www.sterilite.com/SelectProdu...=252&section=1 and have someone take care of them at their own house while you're gone.

Where you are in Ohio? Google tells me to tells I-90 pretty much all the way from Wisconsin to New Hampshire, but it also tells me my mom's house isn't a valid address.

Eww... Canada... And ferries... That is probably the easiest route if you have a your passport. Its pretty much a straight shot on I-90. Other than that you could take I-80 south.

We are in Holmes County, OH. Right in middle of the world's largest Amish settlement. And boy do they love the sight of me. Tattoos, piercings, 8" red mohawk and often seen walking my wife on a leash.

I don't live too far off I-90, I'm in Northern Illinois. The Randall exit is like... maybe 20 minutes from me? Just a couple towns over, straight down Randall Rd (Randall exit is in Elgin, I want to say? Or near. I'm just shy of Lake in the Hills). Feel free to keep me in mind as a last resort if none of the locals can babysit
