I have used doggy bag? Dog food from tsc I currently am using a lab block. I had reasonable results with the dog food. I know of a few big box pet stores sell a type of rodent block I think its made by kaytee? The kind most people use on here probably come in 50 lbs bags.

    http://www.kaytee.com/products/fortd...e-rat-2-lb.php

Probably not the best you can find but for three rats the 50 pound bags may be too much, unless you have alot of freezer space

Feed lab blocks, or a home-made rat mix. Since you're a first timer, go for the lab blocks.
You can give the mothers a spoon full of yogurt, seeds (for fat), scrambled eggs, cooked chicken (no skin, no fat), cooked (cooled) pasta and rice, all of these things are great treats for mothers, to hep them produce the most milk possible.

    Re: First time breeding

Find a feed store in your area to get 50 lb bags of rodent blocks. Bags normally cost around $25 - $30.
