    Quick Q

    Picking up a rat to see if my bp will take it tomarrow. She ways 160g. I am planning on get a rat pup, if I end up with a large pup that is closer to 30g will I be ok?

    I read somewhere last night you want it to be about 15% of the weight of your baby.

    I am feeding my very small 3 year old girl BP rat pups at the moment, and they even seem big for her. Shes 30+ inches, not frail but definitely not big. Probably switching to small rats soon though)

    I like using the width to measure. The prey should be between 1 to 1.5 times the width of your snake. Some people say 2 times the width but I think if its a new snake, you should take it easy until you actually get them feeding. Im no expert though!

    she took 21g mouse np for me on thursday. If 15% is correct she should be ok with pup.

    She should easily be able to handle a rat pup at 160 grams, my smallest is about that size and she's been pounding rat pups since I got her about a month and a half ago

    Did you mean to say three year old bp. Rat pups seem really small for a three year old imo.

    Maybe it's a rescue that has been deprived of food for a very long time, and they're just inching their way up the food size.

    Reach for the stars, and if you don't grab them at least you'll fall on top of the world.
