Caramel finally ate with me after 3 weeks of waiting and worrying. I left her alone all week (didn't even stick my hands in there the last two days) and went to pick up a live hopper at a well kept reptile store. The man working there told me that they were out of hoppers and after explaining my snakes weight and the feeding problems I had been having with her he suggested leaving a fuzzy in there with her overnight. He said that if she ate it it was a good sign but that she didnt that there was something else going on even though my husbandry sounded good.
Well I put the fuzzy near her hide around 6:40pm, turned off all the lights and closed the room door so there would be no loud sounds and went off to make dinner. When I went back around 9:30pm to get something from the room I glanced at the tank and noticed that I could no longer see the fuzzy. I didn't want to disturb her just in case I was wrong so I didn't go back in until 11:30. I reached in to put fresh water, Moved the fake plant, checked under both hides and moved the Aspen a bit and it's gone! She was poking out of her hide in an S shape and hid when I put the temp gun close to her but it's all gone! I'm so excited. It sucks that I had to leave her completely alone for her to eat tho. A fuzzy might not do any damage but an adult could. Looking at the positives right now though. I'm gonna wait the 48 hrs then check on her and weigh her. Hope the fast is over!![]()
