    Questions on xpvc

    Hey all,

Im planning on building an xpvc rack soon and was just wondering the best place to get some. Im in miami florida if that helps any.

Was also wondering what thickness I should purchase, Im going to be doing about 8 high 41 qt tubs but the wide version do to space/layout.

    THANKS

I just randomly found this place on google. The price listed there is not bad at all, but you could look around and ask for price quotes. edit: That place isn't even in Miami, lol. Still, just search around.

1/2" should be good if the 41 qt was going in length wise, but I'm not sure how well it will hold up going in sideways. Especially with a fat snake in it. The 3/4" would definitely work, but is nearly twice as expensive.

Thanks for the advice. Unless I find a local place I think it will be cheaper just to do a melamine rack.....

Melamine will be at minimum 50% cheaper no matter where you find the pvc, though the xpvc rack will be a lot lighter and last forever.

you will still have the same sagging issue with melamine....maybe worse. might be better to do it long ways. that also helps maintain a hot spot.

My pvcx rack isn't sagging it is over ten years old now??? The other two friends ave that are about the same age also are problem free. Never seen one sag I am not saying it can't I just have only seen 3 old ones in the 'flesh' and they are not.

is yours a sideways for 41qt? i have seen the sideways hold up really well for the 25 qt racks but when you dealing with 30 some odd inches i wouldn't be surprised if it sagged.

I didn't know that there was that big of a sagging issue with side ways 41qt tubs, I have seen quite a few on here. interested in hearing from people who have them.

early on i had a side ways 41 qt i made out of wood with alot of support to prevent sag. i hated it! you have to be careful not to pull them out too far or they will tip out of the rack. i also didn't like how it handled the hot spot. i changed to a longways plastic rack instead.
