The probe is out side temp. The unit itself has temp and humidity gauge inside for the inside temp
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

You put the probe under the hot side hide, put the unit itself on the cool side. The probe will measure hot side temps as "Outside" and cool side temps and humidity as "Inside".

EDIT: Also wanted to clarify, the Accu-rite is not a temperature CONTROLLER as your post title states. The accu-rite is a thermoMETER, only used to measure temps, not to control them.

Probe on the hot side under the hide. The unit itself is the cool side thermometer. It should really be on the floor of the enclosure as well since that is the temperature you want to measure.
