Agreed, don't panic!! And don't throw anything around if your room is cluttered, s/he might be hiding under a pile of something and you don't want to harm him/her. I'd set up a few hides or a nice warm spot and see if s/he comes to it, or put a mouse/rat in a hide and see if that draws him/her out. Look under/around EVERYTHING, even if you think they'd never fit. My RTB got out once and she turned out to be under my mini-fridge, which I would NEVER have thought she'd fit under. If she didn't poke her head out I would've never looked.

I've also heard about someone using a non-toxic type of mouse trap that has something akin to glue on it instead of a spring-snap. I'd be VERY careful and do your research before doing it, but it could be a good way to catch him/her if there's a lot of places s/he can crawl in and out of.

It helps that BEL's are stark white, s/he should be a lot easier to spot than most! Good luck, I'm sure you'll find him/her in no time!

Please don't use sticky traps. If it's sticky enough to hold your snake, it's sticky enough to be very harmful.

If you can't find it by looking, try listening. Especially in the evening or early morning hours when they are most likely to be moving around. Give yourself a quiet activity like reading...get comfy....and silently entertain yourself while keeping an ear out for the slightest rustling sound. Placing plastic grocery bags around the edges of the room and under furniture can help with this trick, too.

    X2!

This is how I unintentionally caught my escaped BP once and it was one of the scariest moments of my life when I realized she was stuck in it. I didn't set the trap down and if I ever have another escape removing them will be the first thing I do (my apartment complex puts them down yearly).

Ooh I think it was you that I saw this written about, I didn't know you didn't do it on purpose. I take back my statement then.

If your room is cluttered/messy I'd start in one corner and just go through eveything, look everywhere, and organize while you're at it. That way you might have a better chance finding him by looking at every single area and at the same time you clean/pick up your room too Good luck finding him!

Even if I did do it on purpose after finding her the way I did I would NEVER recommend it. I thought she was dead at first, half her face was stuck to it and her mouth was open. It was just horrible.

I wish I had taken a picture so I could show people how bad sticky traps are but I was more concerned with getting her off safely (you use cooking oil for this btw) than think about how to use it as a future learning experience.

Re: I just lost my BEL

I search high and low for a few hours and finally found him! Thank goodness. >_<

He was under my green tree python's terrarium. I didn't think he could squeeze through such a small gap. He was laying under the UTH... Luckily the UTH wasn't hot enough to burn him. Back to your cage you bad little snake. lol. Thanks for all of your support!
