Does this Lesser have Pastel in it?
Hi, just hatched out 2 little girls. Almost positive that the one on the left is Super Pastel-Lesser, but not sure if the one on the right is Pastel or plain Lesser. Trying to match up the yellows and it is close to the sire and sibling, and eyes are greenish, but I never saw a regular Lesser hatchling in person.
Any help would be appreciated, this pic is without flash.

Judging by their heads the left looks like a super pastel lesser and the right looks like a lesser.

I agree, the one on the left looks like a Super Pastel based on the head and dorsal fading.
I'm not a 100% on the right if it's a Lesser or Pastel Lesser, sometimes the difference can be very subtle.

I think the one in question (right) is a lesser, and not a pastel lesser.
However, it sure is SMOKING HOT!

Re: Does this Lesser have Pastel in it?
Thanks for the input. I'm calling it a Lesser for now until I see something change after first shed.
I will be doing another post in a few days about a Queen Bee/ Killer Queen Bee and a Bumblebee/ Killer Bee from the same clutch.
I didn't think it would be so hard to tell what they are. I really have nothing to compare them to. But it's always better than asking if they are normals so no complaints here.

I forgot to mention that as some recent threads have proved it can be hard to differentiate a nice lesser from a pastel lesser. And I've never been very good at identifying the subtle morph with few identifying characteristics

No worries, just wanted different eyes to see her and give some feedback. I have a picture with flash in my gallery but it wouldn't let me load it for some reason.
Maybe better lighting would make it a little clearer.

If a picture won't uplaod to the BP.net gallery try reducing the size a little, sometimes that will work.
I feel your pain though, I went through the same thing not too long ago, trying to figure out the signs if a Pastel gene was present or not and what to look for. But it can be very hard with the Lesser gene. You can see my debate thread here: Lesser or Lesser Pastel?

Re: Does this Lesser have Pastel in it?
Gotcha. The sire looks very similar and as u can see i got Super Pastel in the other offspring so the sire was indeed Pastel not that I ever doubted the seller.
The pic is loaded in my gallery but for some reason if I copy and paste the code it posts the same pic I have up in this post. It's weird, never had a problem before.
